Had a launch for my new book, What We Tell Them, at Readings Carlton this past week!
What We Tell Them: A Storybook By Mr. Tony Abbott illuminates the words and actions of Australia’s most accidental PM and some of his lovable pals! It isn’t really a children’s book, unless you like your children sad.
We’ve run a crowdfund on Pozible for two months to get the books sold, and, inspired by philosopher Peter Singer and The Life You Can Save, the plan is to donate all profits from sales to effective charities.
That’s why the book exists, in fact. I would not have chosen to delve this deeply into the mind of Tony Abbott without a very good reason.
The great thing is that we were able to get the books printed at no cost, so virtually all money raised will be going to charity. And, despite the ugly people I’ve drawn in there, this book is actually a really nice-looking object!
Here’s a recording of me and Tom Doig having a chat about where the book came from.
I think next time I try to raise money for charity I’ll do it by making a book of nice things people like, like Cats Playing Classic Atari Games or Hamster Potter: Photos Of Hamsters Re-Enacting Scenes From The Harry Potter Universe.
You can get a copy of What We Tell Them at Readings or via the crowdfund in the next two weeks. Please grab one! Would be great to get the total donation to $2000. After that, the book will be gone! Just like Tony! Good riddance!
You’ll still be able to read it digitally at zco.mx, though.
