Meet Many More Characters.

Posted on December 13, 2007 by David

I can’t be bothered doing individual posts for each character at the moment, so check out the new character lineup (link opens in a new window) and let’s learn about a few of your soon-to-be-favourite TV cops: BEN MARTINEZ Martinez is a greenhorn who has no idea what The Precinct is, why it exists, and…

Six months later…

Posted on November 30, 2007 by David

… he updates his blog again. Since I last posted, I’ve finished a lot of things, notably The Bedroom Philosopher‘s music video. The Happiest Boy was done in September and has aired on Rage and Channel V. See it here. Nakedfella Comics #9 is my brand new 56-page comic book, self-published as always. Launched at…

Ackersley vs dead eyes

Posted on May 30, 2007May 30, 2007 by David

This is the first in a series of posts describing the characters in The Precinct and their relation to the story of what I’m optimistically calling “The Precinct: Season One”. [kml_flashembed movie=”http://www.nakedfella.com/animation/theprecinct/ackersley2.swf” width=”360″ height=”240″/] Ackersley is the guy you’ve been seeing in the animation tests and most of the sketches I’ve been posting. This is…

My Day Job

Posted on May 14, 2007May 15, 2007 by David

Animation feels more like a “night job” to me since I spend so many nights working on it, but in the last few years I’ve been lucky enough to have made most of my income by animating, for hire and otherwise (this does not necessarily mean a large income). Here are some projects I have…

Subject: About entering the AFI awards From: David Blumenstein Date: 28/05/2005 12:17 AM To: XXXXXX@afi.org.au Hi, I completed a short animated film in October of last year which I would like to enter in the AFI awards. The film was made for what one might describe as “a pittance” (under two thousand dollars). The film…

Recording Session 04, Aliens, Rejection

Posted on March 22, 2007March 22, 2007 by David

March 1 we had a very nice Precinct recording session in which Thomas, Kynan and Anna Grace returned to record some lines I’d missed, some new ones and, primarily, to rerecord some stuff in a slightly more “cinema verite” fashion. Method actors Thomas and Kynan agreed to run on the spot for a good couple…

David Blumenstein

I’m a service designer, cartoonist and co-founder of Squishface Studio. I’ve done comics for The Guardian, Crikey and Australian MAD. Currently also deputy president of the Australian Cartoonists Association.

I usually write about things that shit me off, from bad bosses (The Bret Braddock Adventures) to pick-up artists (#takedown) to white supremacist trolls (The Internet’s Most Trolled Cartoonist) to predatory cults (Why Los Angeles is Scientology’s perfect city) and nasty tech bros (Octane Render: Cartoonists talk about A.I. art).

I’m working on graphic novels called Sciensatics (about cultists) and Free Money, Please (about wealth and passive income).
