How can you meet us and get one? Squishface Studio’s first book, SQUISHBOOK, is now out! We’ve published it ourselves. It was created with help from a successful crowdfund and a 2023 City of Melbourne arts grant. Subscribers to my mailing list (you can join at right) just got an essay about the interesting stuff I got to do while taking part at NCS Fest. It included interviews and research for my next big comic. It was busy and fun. You just get the photos! Put together your own story about what…

MEET THE CARAVAN Do you know what the Caravan of Comics is? It is (or was) a three week cartoonist tour of the north-eastern bit of the USA, with a swing through Toronto. It said, “Hello, Americas! We do comics, and we kick bottom.” And it was a fantastic trip to be on.  …

The Stanleys 2011

Posted on November 18, 2011November 20, 2011 by David

or, What it is to be a cartoonist Cartoonists don’t travel through physical space, only through time. Desperately trying…

David Blumenstein

I’m a service designer, cartoonist and co-founder of Squishface Studio. I’ve done comics for The Guardian, Crikey and Australian MAD. Currently also deputy president of the Australian Cartoonists Association.

I usually write about things that shit me off, from bad bosses (The Bret Braddock Adventures) to pick-up artists (#takedown) to white supremacist trolls (The Internet’s Most Trolled Cartoonist) to predatory cults (Why Los Angeles is Scientology’s perfect city) and nasty tech bros (Octane Render: Cartoonists talk about A.I. art).

I’m working on graphic novels called Sciensatics (about cultists) and Free Money, Please (about wealth and passive income).

Sarah Howell

I regularly collaborate with my wife, Sarah Howell.
