The Precinct: Characters pt 3 – South & Padgett

Posted on February 19, 2011 by David

Two more cops for you to meet: South and Padgett. South is Ackersley’s new partner. Most of Ackersley’s partners transfer out of The Precinct, quit the police force or simply disappear, but South is the kind of sweet, tolerant soul who doesn’t mind being forced to eat jerky sandwiches, carried through the muster room like…

The Precinct: Characters pt 2 – Sarge & Sandhurst

Posted on February 18, 2011 by David

Meet some more of The Precinct‘s characters: With a yell that can explode pot plants, Sarge keeps The Precinct functioning — difficult, given the number of narcissistic, preening nutbags who work there. The Precinct loses more budget and resources every year — “tightening our belts”, says Mayor Rochman, who has plenty of reason to want…

The Precinct: Characters pt 1 – Ackersley & Rochman

Posted on February 17, 2011 by David

Now that I’m putting together a new version of The Precinct pitch/bible/thing I thought I’d do something I meant to do years ago on this blog: introduce the characters properly. This has meant a lot of meetings re the scripts (which need to be reworked to fit the longer format), the plots and the “big ideas” behind the show (we’re thinking about three seasons’ worth, so there’s…

David Blumenstein

I’m a service designer, cartoonist and co-founder of Squishface Studio. I’ve done comics for The Guardian, Crikey and Australian MAD. Currently also deputy president of the Australian Cartoonists Association.

I usually write about things that shit me off, from bad bosses (The Bret Braddock Adventures) to pick-up artists (#takedown) to white supremacist trolls (The Internet’s Most Trolled Cartoonist) to predatory cults (Why Los Angeles is Scientology’s perfect city) and nasty tech bros (Octane Render: Cartoonists talk about A.I. art).

I’m working on graphic novels called Sciensatics (about cultists) and Free Money, Please (about wealth and passive income).

I regularly collaborate with my wife, Sarah Howell.
