Thursday night found myself and Mr Thomas Pullar making with the voice recording in the fabulous AIM sound studio. Thomas tried out a couple of characters, and having listened back to the results, I feel pretty confident he can voice them both and probably more besides.
The next challenge is to get him together with other actors (who are, of course, busy people and wonderful human beings for doing this stuff for nothing), because these guys (and girls) really seem to do much better work when they have each other to bounce off of. Hopefully I’m learning a bit more about directing actors.
So the animatic inches itself closer to a “completed” state. Truthfully, it’ll never be complete, it’ll change and change until it’s had the animation done over the top of it, and then it’ll cease to exist. So “complete” in this context means “ready to show to investors, distributors, networks and outside people generally”.
In other news, I rented Dirty Harry no. 3; Sudden Impact, (John Carpenter’s) Assault on Precinct 13, the Spike Lee heist movie Inside Man and good old Tango & Cash. Winners all, but that “ice cream man” scene in Precinct 13 was a real jaw dropper.
