The new Precinct project

Posted on June 28, 2009June 28, 2009 by David

First, something unrelated: in case you didn’t know, Tony Martin and guest writer Justin Heazlewood both have new writing on The Scrivener’s Fancy, a website which appears to have popped up out of nowhere to make me happy. Good for them! Secret proj I alluded in an earlier post to a “secret project”. There’s not…

Talented Bastards Who Should Be Shot

Posted on June 18, 2009June 18, 2009 by David

Episode one in a series highlighting shitheels with skills far beyond mine. Today: Scott Vandenbosch. Check out his beautiful artwork, and tell him, from me, to go to hell. PS: I changed the look of this blog to something much sexier and Precinct-appropriate. And now that I’m running WordPress 2.8, it has widgets and a…

Me, on the radio

Posted on May 15, 2009June 18, 2009 by David

As I’m featured in the very nice Superheroes & Schlemiels exhibition currently at the Jewish Museum here in Melbourne, they’ve kindly given me the opportunity to appear on ABC 774 this Sunday with the Museum’s Helen Light to talk about… comic books and Jews, probably. We’ll be on around 10:30am, speaking with Alan Brough, which…

I like comedy

Posted on April 9, 2009April 9, 2009 by David

The other night we saw Matthew Keneally and Josie Long at the Comedy Festival. They were both fun, but Josie Long gets the edge over, being that she’s COMPLETELY ADORABLE, made us laugh ’til it hurt AND she makes her own zines and hands them out to audience members. A friend of mine told me…

Your official reminder:

Posted on March 26, 2008March 28, 2008 by David

This Saturday at Comic Book Funny — uber-funny comix people! Ben Hutchings (writer/artist of You Stink And I Don’t and The Killer Foetus), Glenn Smith (Necrotardation, Glenjamin) and Ross Tesoriero (Entrailer Trash) launch their brand new comics — so brand new I HAVEN’T SEEN COPIES OF THEM YET. They will talk comics, show some animation…

David Blumenstein

I’m a service designer, cartoonist and co-founder of Squishface Studio. I’ve done comics for The Guardian, Crikey and Australian MAD. Currently also deputy president of the Australian Cartoonists Association.

I usually write about things that shit me off, from bad bosses (The Bret Braddock Adventures) to pick-up artists (#takedown) to white supremacist trolls (The Internet’s Most Trolled Cartoonist) to predatory cults (Why Los Angeles is Scientology’s perfect city) and nasty tech bros (Octane Render: Cartoonists talk about A.I. art).

I’m working on graphic novels called Sciensatics (about cultists) and Free Money, Please (about wealth and passive income).

Sarah Howell

I regularly collaborate with my wife, Sarah Howell.
