The Precinct: Characters pt 1 – Ackersley & Rochman

Posted on February 17, 2011 by David

Now that I’m putting together a new version of The Precinct pitch/bible/thing I thought I’d do something I meant to do years ago on this blog: introduce the characters properly. I’ll try to add them regularly. Here’s today’s! Ackersley is the most dangerous officer at The Precinct: a loose cannon, a renegade. As an undercover…

Precinct ep 06: Blam!

Posted on July 24, 2009 by David

I stopped working on the animatic for the John Farnham episode because I’m doing something special this weekend: myself, Adam and two of our Precinct voice-maestros, Thomas Pullar and Adrian Calear, are going to perform a reading of the episode 6 script for a select audience at a secret location. SO MYSTERIOUS We’ll be assisted…

Precinct ep 00b: Eras of Ackersley

Posted on July 15, 2009 by David

As with Farnham, in the new Precinct cartoon we’ll be seeing Ackersley at different points from 1986 thru today. I think ’93 Ackersley is my favourite. More animatic done now: [kml_flashembed movie=”https://nakedfella.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/0b-Playing-to-Win.swf” width=”512″ height=”288″ allowfullscreen=”true” /] Please go to the Precinct site and try out our Cop Action Survey. We need some info about what…

Precinct ep. 00b: Eras of Farnham

Posted on July 5, 2009 by David

For the upcoming Precinct animation: obviously “You’re the Voice” Farnham is familiar, but here’s sketches for some later era Farnhams. Click for a larger version. Many of them will appear in this cartoon: basically he’ll be changing costume for every shot. Pain in the arse, as it means more character builds. But we’ll be using…

Production begins on The Precinct, episode 00b: “Playing To Win”

Posted on July 3, 2009July 5, 2009 by David

YES! So, as I mentioned previously, I’m starting up a new Precinct short animation, the goals of which are: to give viewers a bit more of the story we’re dealing with in the series to reveal a bit more about Det. Ackersley’s personality to show lots more ACTION and fast cutting to shamelessly wallow in…

Adam speaks

Posted on June 23, 2009 by David

I asked Dave if I could submit my own blog post for the show, the idea being that I could draw in interested parties that know me, and not Dave, and to introduce my own voice to existing followers as the other creative party at this point. So allow myself to introduce myself. I’m Adam…

David Blumenstein

I’m a service designer, cartoonist and co-founder of Squishface Studio. I’ve done comics for The Guardian, Crikey and Australian MAD. Currently also deputy president of the Australian Cartoonists Association.

I usually write about things that shit me off, from bad bosses (The Bret Braddock Adventures) to pick-up artists (#takedown) to white supremacist trolls (The Internet’s Most Trolled Cartoonist) to predatory cults (Why Los Angeles is Scientology’s perfect city) and nasty tech bros (Octane Render: Cartoonists talk about A.I. art).

I’m working on graphic novels called Sciensatics (about cultists) and Free Money, Please (about wealth and passive income).
